Israel 365 News: Boris Johnson, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party, has always been controversial but he raised the volume last week when he suggested that the best way to unite Europe was by recreating the Roman Empire.
His vision of the Roman Empire in the 21st century is based on a partnership that included Turkey and the North African states. At the NATO summit in Madrid last month, he told replrters that this would be based on the Mare Nostrum, the Latin term for the Mediterranean Sea.
It is interesting to note that 19th-century Italian nationalist fascists used the term to describe Italy as the successor state to the Roman Empire. The term was again taken up by Benito Mussolini for use in fascist propaganda, in a similar manner to Adolf Hitler’s lebensraum system of colonialism.
Johnson’s plan was in contrast to the ‘European Political Community’ presented by France’s President Emmanuel Macron to the European Parliament on May 9. This community would allow the EU to force closer ties with non-members, such as the UK and the nations of the western Balkans.
Though Britain left the European Union in 2020 in a move known as Brexit, some European leaders feel Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February has created a greater need for unity in the face of a common threat. A parallel organization would enable Britain to join without reentering the EU. Read More …
Opinion: Daniel 11:40-45 gives us an inside look at the final battle before the return of Jesus Christ. A quick read of those verses shows no individual country but instead identifies nation blocs. How interesting that two European leaders, Boris Johnson and Emmanuel Macron are also planning ‘partnerships’ of nations under a re-creation of the Roman Empire.
“After this I saw in the night visions, and behold, a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, exceedingly strong. It had huge iron teeth; it was devouring, breaking in pieces, and trampling the residue with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that were before it, and it had ten horns” Daniel 7:7.
That Daniel knew that Rome would never be conquered is miraculous by itself, but he also knew Rome would rise in the last days as the Beast Army of Antichrist.
What Daniel probably didn’t know is that two world leaders in the last days with little or know Bible knowledge, would help rebuild Rome thinking it is an original idea.
Battle of Armageddon begins – Four Power Blocs
- King of the North: Syria, nations to the north of Israel (Dan. 11:40)
- King of the South: Egypt, (North Africa), nations to the south of Israel (Dan. 11:40)
- Western Alliance, Beast Army of Antichrist – revived Roman Empire (Psalm 2:1-4; Dan. 11:40; Rev. 16:14, 19:19)
- Kings of the East – China India, Nations to the east of Israel (Rev. 16:12)
It was God who set Israel at the center of the nations (Ezekiel 5:5) in prophecy, and it was the same God who gave Daniel the division of nations as armies, with no individual nation identified.
Let’s go verse by verse:
“At the time of the end the king of the South shall attack him; and the king of the North shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter the countries, overwhelm them, and pass through.”
This is the closing battle of the second 3½ years of the Tribulation leading to the return of Jesus Christ.
Antichrist moves his army to Jerusalem fulfilling Luke 21:20 “But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near.”
“He shall also enter the Glorious Land, and many countries shall be overthrown; but these shall escape from his hand: Edom, Moab, and the prominent people of Ammon.”
Glorious Land is Israel:
(“Many countries” means the defeat of many nations that have gone after God’s chosen in Edom)
Edom, Moab and Ammon (Jordan) are protected from Antichrist because God’s chosen people are in that country in Edom.
“He shall stretch out his hand against the countries, and the land of Egypt shall not escape. He shall have power over the treasures of gold and silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt; also the Libyans and Ethiopians shall follow at his heels.”
Antichrist will first strike against Egypt and her allies Libya and Ethiopia, but God will save Egypt due to her national conversion (Isaiah 19:21).
“But news from the east and the north shall trouble him; therefore he shall go out with great fury to destroy and annihilate many.”
Antichrist will lash out in all directions in conquest. The kings of the East are coming (Revelation 16:12) to battle Christ. By this time in the great battle, the kings of the north and south will have been weakened and a 200-million-man army from the east (of Israel) will cross a dried-up Euphrates River to try to stop Christ on His return.
“And he (Antichrist) shall plant the tents of his palace between the seas (Mediterranean/Dead Sea) and the glorious holy mountain (Temple Mount); yet he shall come to his end, and no one will help him.”
