Leftists’ Lockdown Love Affair: Are Climate Lockdowns Next?

In late February, globalist group World Economic Forum posted a tweet with an embedded video proclaiming, incredibly, that “lockdowns are quietly improving cities around the world.”

“Earth’s seismic noise has been the lowest in decades due to lockdowns,” the organization enthusiastically explained. “Scientists saw a ‘wave of quiet’ around the world in 2020. Ambient noise fell in some cities 50%, as fewer people used transport and factories closed.” My, wouldn’t it be wonderful, then, if we could just make lockdowns a recurring phenomenon?

This quip may not be a joke to some people, warned Fox News host Tucker Carlson Tuesday. For World Economic Forum passions may be more widespread than we think. In fact, asserted the commentator, according “to Joe Biden … we could get another round of lockdowns” — to combat the boogeyman of climate change.

Carlson then played a December 2020 video clip of Biden saying, “Today, I’m pleased to announce a team that will lead my administration’s ambitious plan to address the existential threat of our time, climate change.”

“Folks, we’re in a crisis just like we need to be a unified nation in response to COVID-19, we need a unified national response to climate change, and from this crisis, from these crises, I should say, we need to seize the opportunity to build back and build back better than we were before,” Biden continued.

“A unified national response. It’s involuntary, that’s the one thing we know,” Carlson then opined. “What does it mean? Well, we’re learning that a World Health Organization staffer has written a report saying that a climate lockdown could be called for, just like a COVID lockdown, a climate lockdown,” he then stated, buttressing his thesis.

PJ Media” German authorities are baffled: a knife-wielding man, identified in the German media as “Jibril A.,” stabbed three people to death and injured five others in Würzburg, Germany, on Friday. Police and intelligence officials have no idea why he did it. Yes, he was screaming, “Allahu akbar!” during his attacks, and yes, he told police interrogators after he was arrested that he had now carried out his “jihad,” but really, what does that even mean? The German-language Tagesspiegel reported Saturday that “the motive for the fatal knife attack in Würzburg on Friday has still not been fully clarified.” Of course it hasn’t. After all, Islam is a religion of peace!

According to Tagesspiegel, Bavaria’s Interior Minister, Joachim Herrmann, said that “it must now be determined to what extent the psychological condition of the 24-year-old Somali played a role.” Hermann revealed that “his condition had been noticed in recent months, including violent tendencies, and a few days ago he was put into compulsory psychiatric treatment.”

Hermann did acknowledge that Jibril’s screams of “Allahu akbar” and identification of his act as a “jihad” do suggest “a possible Islamist motive, and that is also part of the investigation,” but it’s clear that German authorities are favoring the idea that Jibril is mentally ill over the possibility that he is a jihad terrorist. The Fed Faces The Greatest Risk In Its History: An Economic Crisis Accompanied By Inflation

Zero Hedge: The fed funds rate was 9.75% when I arrived in the pit, Chicago 1989. US GDP that year was 3.7%, unemployment 5.4%, and inflation 4.6%. But the S&L crisis was widening, as they do. So the Fed cut rates 75bps. Back then, the Fed certainly didn’t signal its intentions. In fact, the Fed neither confirmed nor denied what changes it made to interest rates even after it made them. Unimaginable, right? So we had to guess Fed policy changes by observing what happened in money markets. I obviously didn’t understand any of it, after all, I was an economics major.

The S&P 500 loved that 75bp rate cut more than it feared the S&L crisis, so stocks took out the 1987 peak, making new highs in the autumn of ’89. There was still tons of brain damage from ’87, and traders are notorious for being superstitious, so the pit was nervy that October. When the S&P plunged -6% out of the blue on October 13th, the trading pit went utterly berserk. I was so happy in that market mayhem. Soon enough, the Fed cut rates another 75bps. The S&P 500 grinded back up through the end of my first year, but never made new highs.

Despite the 150bps of rate cuts in 1989, and the record S&P highs, the economy soon entered a recession. The Fed kept cutting rates for a couple years, ending at an impossibly low rate of 3.00% in Feb 1992. US GDP was 3.5%, unemployment 7.4% and inflation was 2.9%. I had made my way to London that year as a prop trader, just in time for the Exchange Rate Mechanism collapse. The Europeans had created a system to ensure stability, certainty. And this naturally encouraged traders and investors to build massive leveraged investment positions.

When systems designed to ensure stability fail, which they inevitably do when applied to things as unstable as economies, the consequences are profound. Read More

Pope denigrates ‘rigid’ preachers living in the past, while his silence on China’s Christians is deafening

LifeSite News: Pope Francis used his general audience this week to denigrate online preachers who are “rigid” and who seek “solutions to the crises of today” in the past, while again choosing to say nothing about the ongoing persecution of Christians and others by the Chinese communist government.

Drawing from St. Paul’s Letter to the Galatians, the Pope seemed to be accusing conservative and traditionalist Catholics of being in league with the Evil One and of being no different from those who sowed discord and mistrust by demanding that the new Christians in Galatia subject themselves to Mosaic Law.

U.S. Military Launches Airstrikes On Iranian-Backed Terrorists In Middle East

The U.S. Military launched airstrikes against Iranian-backed terrorists near the Iraq-Syria border late on Sunday evening in response to those groups using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) to attack U.S. forces in Iraq.

“Specifically, the U.S. strikes targeted operational and weapons storage facilities at two locations in Syria and one location in Iraq, both of which lie close to the border between those countries,” the Pentagon said in a statement. “Several Iran-backed militia groups, including Kata’ib Hezbollah (KH) and Kata’ib Sayyid al-Shuhada (KSS), used these facilities.”

Zero Hedge: At the start of May, when observing the avalanche of “higher inflation” mentions on Q1 earnings calls, which had quadrupled YoY; and jumped by a record 800% YoY…

… BofA chief equity strategist Savita Subramanian summarized the current state of affairs as follows: “On an absolute basis, [inflation] mentions skyrocketed to near record highs from 2011, pointing to at the very least, “transitory” hyper-inflation ahead.”

“And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a [c]denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.” Rev. 6:6
