Joe Biden Calls on States to Bribe Citizens to Get Vaccinated

PJ Media: After various state efforts to boost vaccination rates—like million-dollar lotteries—failed to reverse the decline in adults seeking COVID-19 vaccinations, Joe Biden has come up with a brilliant new plan to fix the problem: $100 bribes.

On Thursday, Biden called on state and local governments to give $100 to adults who get the COVID-19 vaccine.

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5

The plan was announced the same week that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reversed its previous recommendation and said that fully vaccinated people must wear masks indoors in schools and in certain other areas.

“Today, I’m calling on all states and local governments to use funding they have received, including from the American Rescue Plan, to give $100 to anyone who gets fully vaccinated,” Biden announced. He cited grocery store chain Kroger’s successful incentive program back in February, when they offered $100 to their employees who got vaccinated. This increased their vaccination rate from 50 percent to 75 percent.

Biden failed to mention that Kroger’s program came in the early weeks of the vaccine distribution when vaccination rates were increasing organically.  Read More

Federal Government Gives Millions to Group That Supports Defunding the Police

Free Beacon: The federal government provides tens of millions of dollars each year to a nonprofit group that supports the movement to defund police departments and dismantle the criminal justice system.

Officials with the Brooklyn-based Vera Institute of Justice have urged the government to “radically dismantle” police departments in order to fix a system they say dehumanizes people of color. The institute is heavily funded by the federal government. So far this fiscal year, the Department of Justice, Department of Health and Human Services, and other agencies have awarded the Vera Institute more than $89 million in contracts and grants. The organization has received $811 million in federal funding since 2008, according to USA Spending, a federal budget database.

“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice;
But when a wicked man rules, the people groan.” Proverbs 29:2

Vera’s support for the “defund the police” movement comes amid a contentious political debate over policing in America. Democrats see the issue as a political third rail and have tried to distance the party from anti-police rhetoric popular on the left. While members of the Democratic Party have embraced the defund movement, President Joe Biden claimed this month that Republicans are “lying” when they say Democrats support the concept.

The Vera Institute, which calls itself a “justice reform change agent,” also received stipends from traditional progressive donors, such as George Soros’s Open Society Foundations. The billionaire’s philanthropy gave more than $10 million to Vera from 2016 to 2019.

Two top executives at Vera rallied to the defund cause following the death of George Floyd, a black man who was killed by Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin in May 2020.

“Vera is committed to dismantling the current culture of policing and working toward solutions that defund police and shift power to communities. Read More

Environmentalists Take Aim At UK’s North Sea Oil Plan

Zero Hedge: The High Court yesterday agreed to hear a case brought by environmental campaigners claiming that the government’s plans for the North Sea oil basin are unlawful.

Three activists are arguing that the Oil and Gas Authority’s (OGA) new strategy for the continental shelf, which was released earlier this year, conflicts with its legal duty to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.?

“While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat,
Winter and summer, And day and night Shall not cease.”Genesis8:22

Justice Thornton said that the campaigners had “presented an arguable case” which was “in the public interest”.

The defendants have been named as the OGA and the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Kwasi Kwarteng.

The case is expected to be heard before the end of the year, with a decision made in early 2022.

Rowan Smith, a solicitor at law firm Leigh Day, which is representing the campaigners, said:

“With climate change high on the public agenda, our clients are perfectly entitled to ensure that the government is sticking to its commitments on net-zero emissions.

“They believe that the OGA’s strategy unlawfully contradicts these commitments, and unlawfully allows the production of oil and gas that does not benefit the UK economy as a whole.”

RASHIDA TALIB CALLS FOR IRS TO TARGET PRO-ISRAEL GROUPS

Israel 365: Congressman Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) sent a letter to the Secretary of the Treasury, Janet Yellen, urging her to review the status granted to “organizations that fund the expansion of Israeli settlements.”

They encircle me with words of hate; they attack me without cause. Psalms 109:3 (The Israel BibleTM)

Tlaib called for the Treasury Department to remove the 501c3 status of any organization that supports the right of Jews to live in Judea and Samaria. The letter was signed by Congressmen Cori Bush, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Andre Carson, Mark Pocan, Betty McCollum, and Ayanna Pressley.

Tlaib has been accused of anti-Israel statements that occasionally turn anti-Semitic. Taib’s letter categorizes Israel’s treatment of the Arabs as “apartheid”. Read More

Republican Senators Press Biden Admin To Bar Iranian President From US

Free Beacon: Republican senators called on the White House to block senior Iranian officials, including incoming hardline president Ebrahim Raisi, from entering the United States to attend the United Nations’ annual general assembly later this year.

In a letter sent late Tuesday, the group of senators led by Tom Cotton (R., Ark.) petitioned the Biden administration to deny visas to Raisi and other Iranian government diplomats, citing Raisi’s leading role in a 1988 “death commission” that approved the mass murder of Iranian dissidents. While the United States typically permits Iranian officials limited access in New York City to attend the U.N. gathering, this would be the first time a known mass murderer is given a visa.

“Ebrahim Raisi should remain sanctioned under U.S. law,” the senators wrote, according to a copy of the letter obtained by the Washington Free Beacon. “If the United Nations General Assembly maintains its current plans to allow some in-person attendance, the White House should deny Raisi and other Iranian leaders visas to attend. Allowing Raisi to travel to the United States—to the same city where the Iranian regime just tried to kidnap a U.S. citizen—would legitimize his repression, undermine America’s moral leadership, and potentially endanger our national security, given the likely presence of intelligence agents in the Iranian traveling party.” Read More

Rabo: Capitalism? Communism? Fascism? Markets Are A “Step Closer” To A New Ism

Zero Hedge: The Fed came, the Fed saw, and the Fed did what we all knew it was going to do: be extremely dovish. Fed-watcher Philip Marey titled his note ‘Pussyfooting’, in that there was not even advanced notice of any advanced notice towards tapering QE. The Financial Times –which got the US Secretary of Defence’s comments regarding his position on the UK deployment of its two aircraft carriers in the South China Sea massively wrong this week– instead runs with the headline “Fed moves closer to decision on ‘tapering’ massive stimulus”.

“He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads.” Rev.13:16

I contend the only accurate part of that headline is the ‘tapering’ – if one is using the apostrophes in a sarcastic manner. However, there clearly was a “move closer” by the Fed: the question is towards what?

Fed Chair Powell made clear that further “substantial progress” required for tapering is towards maximum employment – not about inflation. That is an enormous de facto shift in its mandate. Imagine if the Covid situation were to get much worse again, hypothetically, and further lockdowns imposed, with further pay-outs for people to stay at home. Against groaning supply chains, we would have high unemployment *and* higher inflation: and the Fed pumping QE in regardless. Perhaps tapering wouldn’t helpbut how does QE if yet-higher supply-side inflation becomes even more demand-destructive, and/or finally shifts inflation psychology? Read More

January 6 Hearings: Emotionalism and Hyperbole

The New American: As the January 6 Committee — officially known as the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol — began its first day of hearings Tuesday, it two token (and nominal) Republican members were on full display. Representatives Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) and Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) played the moment for all it was worth with Kinzinger crying and Cheney warning that unless the committee gets to the bottom of Jan 6, it could happen again every four years.

“Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life?” 1 CorINTHIANS. 6:3

Kinzinger and Cheney were invited to join the “Darkest Day in History” Committee when House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) withdrew his three remaining nominees in response to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) rejecting Representatives Jim Banks (R-Ind.) and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) because they have been vocal supporters of President Trump. Kinzinger and Cheney are both nominal Republicans who have been vocal critics of Trump. Both voted to impeach Trump in the second of two impeachment trials that have been described as kangaroo courts.

Kinzinger and Cheney make for perfect token Republicans whose job it is to give the committee a veneer of bipartisanship. And lest anyone doubt their commitment, they took center stage on day one of the committees hearings, literally weeping and wailing. To be fair and accurate, it was Kinzinger who wept and Cheney who wailed. Read More

Saudi Arabia moves towards the Gulf peace train with Israel

Debkafile: Indications of a radical policy turnaround in Riyadh towards jumping aboard the peace wagon rolling forward between Gulf nations and Israel were highlighted in a column published on July 1 by Asharq Al-Awsat, the London- based publication close to the Saudi royal house. Last week’s visit by Foreign Minister Yair Lapid to the United Arab Republic and Bahran, the first by an Israeli minister to the signatories of the Abraham Accords, was extensively covered in the Saudi media as a historic event, the columnist noted.  One paper front-paged a picture of Lapid backed by the Israeli flag, And TV channels have begun inviting Israeli pundits to live talk shows, often introducing them as experts “in Jerusalem.”

“Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.” Daniel 9:27

Decades-long taboos are being tossed, as the Saudis eye the booming trade ties their neighbors are binding with the Jewish state.

Saudi and other Arab commentators have come to believe that Crown Prince Muhammed bin Salman has already come around to recognizing that Riyadh is being left behind by clinging to an outdated policy that links recognition of Israel to the Palestinian conflict. This no-war-no-peace stance has become leads nowhere. MBS has long realized that the kingdom’s-oi-based economy can no longer sustain a population which has grown to 35 million and is expanding. Diversification is the way as the Emiratis’ have already shown. To branch out as a hub of services, tourism and trade, the Saudis will likewise have to eschew conflict and embrace good relations.

The Crown Prince understands he must choose sides between the two blocs fast emerging in the Middle East. One led by the Arab states and Israel based on their peace relations as a strong engine for generating wealth and prosperity for their peoples, and the other one, led by Iran and its focus on developing a nuclear weapon and aggression while its population stays hungry. The CDC’s Hysterical Delta Flip-Flop Might Be Its Final Undoing

Zero Hedge: The crazy, convoluted, mixed up messaging from the CDC – it’s been this way from the beginning of the pandemic until now – has taken yet another turn. Now the CDC is recommending masks not just for the unvaccinated but for the vaccinated too. This is supposedly because of the discovery that the variant known as Delta is making an end-run around the vaccines, causing not only infections but infectious spread.

So we have an odd situation developing…

The layperson’s understanding of a vaccine is that it protects a person against infection, like measles or smallpox. In other words, you won’t get Covid, exactly as President Biden accidentally and apparently inaccurately said in a press conference last week.

That is apparently untrue in this case. That realization seemed to dawn on people only a few weeks ago, as reports from Israel revealed that half the new infections listed were with people who had been fully vaccinated.

CDC spokesperson Rochelle Walenski

I pity anyone who took a few weeks’ vacation from the news during this period. We went from believing that the whole point of the vaccines was to protect against infection to realizing that this was not the case. You can still get the bug. The point of the vaccines, we were newly told, is to protect against severe outcomes. Okay, that’s reasonable enough except that we know the demographics of severe outcomes, and hence the question presents itself: why is the policy priority near-universal vaccination?

None of this makes sense – if you are still looking for policies to make sense, which you probably gave up on long ago.
