UAE condemns Jewish extremists violence in Jerusalem, calls for restraint

Times of Israel: The United Arab Emirates on Sunday called on Israel to reduce tensions in Jerusalem and condemned a recent march by an extremist Jewish group in the city.

The statement was a rare criticism of Israel from the Arab nation since the two countries signed a normalization agreement last year and have been pushing ahead with increasingly warm ties.

“The United Arab Emirates has expressed concern over the acts of violence committed by right-wing extremist groups in the occupied East Jerusalem, which have resulted in injuries among civilians,” the statement said.

The UAE “called upon the Israeli authorities to assume responsibility toward de-escalation and putting an end to all aggressions and practices that perpetuate tension and hostility,” the statement said.’

 

It also underlined “the necessity of preserving the historical identity of the occupied city of Jerusalem.” Read More

PM holds urgent meeting amid soaring Gaza tensions; IDF chief postpones US trip

Times of Israel: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened an urgent security meeting on Saturday afternoon to discuss soaring tensions with the Hamas-run Gaza Strip following overnight barrages of rockets fired at Israel from the Palestinian enclave. The meeting was held at the Israel Defense Forces’ Kirya headquarters in Tel Aviv with IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kohavi, Defense Minister Benny Gantz, Minister of Public Security Amir Ohana, the head of the Shin Bet internal security service, and other high-level officials.

“They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel be remembered no more”. Psalm 83:4

The urgent meeting was held shortly after the military announced earlier Saturday that Kohavi has delayed a planned trip to the United States to discuss the threat of Iran’s nuclear program and its entrenchment throughout the region.

Kohavi had met with security chiefs to discuss the situation following the firing of 36 rockets at Israel overnight from the Gaza Strip and amid clashes between Palestinians and Israeli security forces in Jerusalem and the West Bank.

“In assessing the situation, the chief of staff ordered a series of possible steps, responses and assessments for escalation,” the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement. Read More

Gaza terrorists fire three rockets toward southern Israel

Arutz Sheva: Three rockets were fired from Gaza towards southern Israel on Friday evening. A  siren was sounded shortly after 11:00 p.m. in Kibbutz Kissufim, located in the Eshkol Regional Council near the border with Gaza.The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit confirmed that one rocket was intercepted by the Iron Dome system, and that two other rockets exploded in open areas.

There are no reports of physical injuries or damages.

A rocket was also fired from Gaza toward southern Israel last Friday evening.

Advisory panel recommends Johnson & Johnson vaccine pause should end

New York Post: The benefits of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine outweigh the risks — and its use should be resumed for anyone over the age of 18 with no warnings added, an influential, independent advisory panel ruled Friday.

The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, which helps guide the government on vaccine use, voted 10 to 4 with one abstention to resume the use of J&J’s one-dose shot after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration recommended a pause on its use last week.

An examination of more than seven million vaccinations found a total of 15 women faced blood clots after they were inoculated, including three who died, the panel said. Five patients were discharged and seven remain hospitalized. Thirteen of the cases occurred in women between the ages of 18 and 49 while two occurred in females over 50. No cases were found in men.

Biden’s First 100 Days Defined by War on Small Businesses

Breitbart: Next Thursday marks President Biden’s 100th day in office. On Wednesday night, Biden will give a joint address to Congress claiming his time so far has been a historic success.

“that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you, that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing.” 1 Thess. 4:11-12

He will try to take credit for the Trump administration’s accomplishments, including the Covid-19 vaccine and ending the war in Afghanistan. He will try to claim that his government spending blowout and proposed tax increases and labor regulations will help the economy, which reached new heights under Trump.

In reality, Biden’s first 100 days are a declaration of war on small businesses. Biden’s $1.9 trillion spending bill passed last month is generating inflation. His numerous environmental orders, including canceling the Keystone XL pipeline and banning drilling on federal lands, are costing jobs and raising energy prices. And by revoking Trump administration deregulation and its business-led apprenticeship program, Biden is making it harder for small businesses to operate and find skilled workers.

But Biden’s biggest threats to small businesses so far have been his proposed tax increases and support for the Pro Act. Biden has proposed raising the corporate tax rate by 33 percent. Roughly one million American small businesses are structured as corporations and would be affected by this massive tax increase. Such small businesses include the likes of Ohio’s Alloy Precision Technologies, which employs about 85 people and has had to enact a hiring freeze to prepare for forthcoming taxes and regulations. Millions more small businesses who service corporations are also indirectly threatened by this tax hike.

Pass-through small businesses, which are subject to the individual tax code, will be impacted by Biden’s other tax proposals. Biden plans to implement a “success tax” (as JCN is calling it) by nearly doubling the capital gains rate and curtailing the so-called “step-up” basis tax treatment for the next generation. Secretary of State Antony Blinken Authorizes Pride Flags At US Embassies

Foreign policy: Secretary of State Antony Blinken has issued a blanket authorization for U.S. diplomatic outposts around the world to fly the Pride flag on the same flagpole as the U.S flag at their embassy or consulate showcasing support for LGBTQ rights.

The directive marks a departure from how the Trump administration handled the matter while the State Department was run by former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

In a confidential cable reviewed by Foreign Policy and sent to diplomatic posts around the world, Blinken gave authority for diplomats to fly the Pride flag before May 17, which marks the international day against homophobia, transphobia, and biphobia, as well as June, which in the United States and many other countries is Pride month.

The cable contained a hedge, though, saying the authorization is not a requirement and chiefs of mission who run each embassy or consulate can choose whether to fly the Pride flag or showcase other symbols connoting support for LGBTQ rights based on what is “appropriate in light of local conditions.” Read More

Jews, Arabs Battle on the Streets of Jerusalem

Israel Today: Dozens of people were arrested and well over 100 injured when Jews and Arabs clashed on the streets of Jerusalem Thursday night.

Sporadic racial street violence has been escalating in the capital over the past several days (see related: The TikTok Intifada). On Thursday, the far-right group Lehava issued a call for its followers to gather at Damascus Gate, which is on the edge of Arab “East Jerusalem,” in a show of “national honor.”

“Because the Lord has sworn: the Lord will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.” Exodus 17:16 

Arab counter-protestors also gathered, as did hundreds of police officers tasked with keeping the two groups apart. Despite their best efforts, the police failed and the Jewish and Arab mobs did come to blows.

Most of the injuries, however, were the result of police trying to hold back the much larger Arab mob. Some 100 protestors and 20 police officers were injured in the clash. Dozens more, both Jews and Arabs, were arrested.

The mounting tension and escalating violence comes against the backdrop of upcoming Palestinian elections in which the Palestinian leadership is demanding that Israel permit the Arabs of Jerusalem to vote. Israel, which has annexed eastern Jerusalem, is adamantly opposed to such a move as it would legitimize Palestinian claims to the city.

The present violence bolsters the Palestinian leadership’s assertion that Jerusalem is a city divided and that its eastern half should be under Palestinian Arab governance. Read More
