Daily Wire: The United Methodist Church (UMC), which is the third-largest Christian denomination in the United States, faces the possibility of schism after conservative Methodists are taking measures to break off over the issue of homosexuality.

The would-be division from the conservative group known as the Global Methodist Church (GMC) consists of a 17-member Transitional Leadership Council, which is a group of theologically conservative Methodists, according to The Christian Post.
The Wesleyan Covenant Association (WCA), which is a conservative United Methodist advocacy group, announced the GMC on March 1, but explained the group is still waiting for the UMC to formally approve a separation policy.
“Theologically conservative United Methodists have made no secret of their efforts to form a new church,” the WCA said in a press release. “In late 2018, the Wesleyan Covenant Association created a Next Steps Working Group to begin drafting its own ‘Book of Doctrines and Discipline’ outlining essential theological confessions and governing structures for a new church’s consideration. It did so in light of the special called 2019 General Conference, where delegates once again addressed issues that have deeply divided the UM Church for decades. The special conference was called to hopefully resolve differences, but many believed it could just as easily reveal the necessity of separation.”

Keith Boyette, president of the Wesleyan Covenant Association and spokesman for the Global Methodist Church, told The Christian Post that UMC leadership has shown “an unwillingness to uphold its teachings.”
“In the United States, particularly, some bishops, clergy, and churches are operating in open defiance to the teachings of the United Methodist Church,” Boyette said.

Times of Israel: The United Arab Emirates on Sunday called on Israel to reduce tensions in Jerusalem and condemned a recent march by an extremist Jewish group in the city.
The statement was a rare criticism of Israel from the Arab nation since the two countries signed a normalization agreement last year and have been pushing ahead with increasingly warm ties.
“The United Arab Emirates has expressed concern over the acts of violence committed by right-wing extremist groups in the occupied East Jerusalem, which have resulted in injuries among civilians,” the statement said.
The UAE “called upon the Israeli authorities to assume responsibility toward de-escalation and putting an end to all aggressions and practices that perpetuate tension and hostility,” the statement said.’
It also underlined “the necessity of preserving the historical identity of the occupied city of Jerusalem.” Read More
Times of Israel: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened an urgent security meeting on Saturday afternoon to discuss soaring tensions with the Hamas-run Gaza Strip following overnight barrages of rockets fired at Israel from the Palestinian enclave. The meeting was held at the Israel Defense Forces’ Kirya headquarters in Tel Aviv with IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kohavi, Defense Minister Benny Gantz, Minister of Public Security Amir Ohana, the head of the Shin Bet internal security service, and other high-level officials.

The urgent meeting was held shortly after the military announced earlier Saturday that Kohavi has delayed a planned trip to the United States to discuss the threat of Iran’s nuclear program and its entrenchment throughout the region.

Kohavi had met with security chiefs to discuss the situation following the firing of 36 rockets at Israel overnight from the Gaza Strip and amid clashes between Palestinians and Israeli security forces in Jerusalem and the West Bank.

A siren was sounded shortly after 11:00 p.m. in Kibbutz Kissufim, located in the Eshkol Regional Council near the border with Gaza.The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit confirmed that one rocket was intercepted by the Iron Dome system, and that two other rockets exploded in open areas.

An examination of more than seven million vaccinations found a total of 15 women faced blood clots after they were inoculated, including three who died, the panel said. Five patients were discharged and seven remain hospitalized. Thirteen of the cases occurred in women between the ages of 18 and 49 while two occurred in females over 50. No cases were found in men.
The CDC and FDA will now review the recommendation and are expected to make a decision Friday night on the vaccine’s fate in the country.
