Israel Hayom: As Joe Biden became the first Catholic in 60 years to sit in the White House last week, elements within the Catholic Church expressed disagreement with his policies on abortion which he has already begun to enact.
Jen Psaki spins out of Hyde Amdt. & Mexico City question by saying Pres. Biden is a “devout Catholic”. Either Pres. Biden is about to be a very pro-Life President or Jen Psaki (and basically everyone else) needs to stop referring to him as a “devout Catholic”…!

There are some elements of the Catholic Church who remain, nonetheless, concerned over the subject. Archbishop José Gomez of Los Angeles, the president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), expressed concern about the new president in a statement, specifying Biden’s policies concerning abortion and gender issues:
Mr. Biden’s piety and personal story, his moving witness to how his faith has brought him solace in times of darkness and tragedy, his longstanding commitment to the Gospel’s priority for the poor — all of this I find hopeful and inspiring,” Fr. Gomez wrote.
But he also expressed concern for Biden’s policies.
“[A]s pastors, the nation’s bishops are given the duty of proclaiming the Gospel in all its truth and power, in season and out of season, even when that teaching is inconvenient or when the Gospel’s truths run contrary to the directions of the wider society and culture,” Fr. Gomez said. “So, I must point out that our new President has pledged to pursue certain policies that would advance moral evils and threaten human life and dignity, most seriously in the areas of abortion, contraception, marriage, and gender. Of deep concern is the liberty of the Church and the freedom of believers to live according to their consciences.”
“The continued injustice of abortion remains the ‘preeminent priority,’” Gomez said. “Preeminent does not mean ‘only.’ We have deep concerns about many threats to human life and dignity in our society. But as Pope Francis teaches, we cannot stay silent when nearly a million unborn lives are being cast aside in our country year after year through abortion,” the archbishop continued.
“I am hopeful that the new President and his new administration will work with the church and others of good will. My hope is that we can begin a dialogue to address the complicated cultural and economic factors that are driving abortion and discouraging families.”
In a rare move, Cardinal Blase Cupich and an unnamed Vatican official issued a statement rebuking Fr. Gomez without addressing Biden’s pro-abortion policies.

Zero Hedge: The Fed’s most frequent lament is that no matter how many trillions in bonds (and stocks and ETFs) it buys or how much liquidity it forehoses into the market, it just can’t push inflation higher.
Well, here’s an idea: maybe all the central-planning megabrains at the Marriner Eccles building and 33 Liberty Street can take a break from whatever circle jerk they are engaged in right now, and look at the latest Case Shiller numbers which showed not only that home prices surged at the fastest pace in seven years, rising more than 9% compared to a year ago…
… but that for the first time since the financial crisis, the annual price increase in every major US MSA (and according to Case Shiller there are 20 of them) rose by at least 6.8% Y/Y (in the case of Las Vegas) and as much as 13.8% in Phoenix, meaning that the average home prices across all of the US is now rising at 4.5 times the Fed’s own inflation target, and even the cheapest US MSA is rising at more than 3 times the Fed’s inflation goal. Timed of Israel: As countries around the world observe International Holocaust Remembrance Day on Wednesday, online events will replace large gatherings at the Jewish genocide’s major sites of remembrance.
Started by the United Nations in 2005, the commemoration marks the day that Auschwitz-Birkenau — the largest of Nazi Germany’s death camps — was liberated by the Soviet army on January 27, 1945. One million Jews from all over Europe were murdered in gas chambers there, in addition to 100,000 victims from Poland, Russia and elsewhere.
With many countries reeling from COVID-19 deaths, some organizations are focusing on the plight of the Holocaust’s youngest victims: the 1,500,000 Jewish children murdered by Nazi Germany. Another theme shared this year is combatting “denial” of the genocide, which — along with anti-Semitism — is on the rise globally.
At the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum in Poland, commemorations will focus on the nearly quarter-million children murdered on-site by German Nazis. At least 216,000 of those victims were Jewish children, many of them deported to the death camp without family.
“The adult world — after all, so often unjust and cruel — has never demonstrated so much of its heartlessness, its evil,” said Dr. Piotr M. A. Cywiński, director of the state museum.
“This [murder of children] cannot be justified by any ideology, reckoning or politics. This year we want to dedicate the anniversary of liberation to the youngest victims of the camp,” said Cywiński. Read More
The New American: Two days after he was inaugurated, President Joe Biden declared war on the unborn.
But he did more than vow to unleash the full might of the baby-murder industry upon the innocent in his message on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the constitutionally flawed U.S. Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion.
He also showed just how different a president he will be than his predecessor, something Never Trump Republicans apparently didn’t consider. Already Biden has attacked simple decency.
No normal American will be safe in Biden’s America. Not the unborn. Not high-school girls. Not high-school boys.
Opening Salvo
On his first day in office, the addled president opened a new front in the culture war by telling schools girls they would shower with boys in the name of imagined “transgender rights.”
That was after, of course, he appointed a “transgender woman” — meaning a man who claims he’s a woman, dresses like one, and acts like one — to the No. 2 health post in the nation at the Department of Health and Human Services.

Zero Hedge:..the Speaker now clearly has a vested interest in the success of names like Tesla, whose trajectories as public companies can be altered drastically by government decisions.
When one looks at a situation like Monday’s insanity-fueled, retail induced short squeeze across the board, one must ask: who are the government officials that have allowed this to happen and what have they been doing during the time they should be regulating such multiple-sigma market absurdities?
Allow us to offer a partial answer. If you were Nancy Pelosi and her husband, you were buying call options in names like Apple, Tesla and Disney. That’s what a new disclosure, detailed in Barron’s, revealed late last week.
Paul Pelosi purchased LEAPS in Tesla, Apple and Disney and shares in AllianceBernstein on December 22, the disclosure revealed. In other words, it’s not just clueless retail Robinhood investors that are speculating; it’s also clueless politicians.
Paul Pelosi and Speaker Pelosi’s office didn’t respond to requests for comment, Barron’s said. Can’t say we’re surprised. Read More
Zero Hedge: Twitter late Monday suspended the account of MyPillow founder and CEO Mike Lindell on its platform.

Lindell’s personal Twitter account had over half a million followers before being suspended. Read More

Israel 365: President Biden’s two newest appointees to top intelligence positions are reasons for concern; though one is Jewish, the other is a “Palestinian”-American and both are decidedly anti-Israel.
President Joe Biden just appointed Maher Bitar, a lawyer who has served as the general counsel for House Intelligence Committee Democrats since 2017, as his senior intelligence adviser for the National Security Council.
The office of the senior director for intelligence receives sensitive information that comes in from the intelligence agencies and coordinates covert action activities between the White House and the intelligence community. It’s also where the National Security Council houses the server that stores the most sensitive classified information.
In a scholarly paper he wrote in September 2009 while a doctoral candidate at the Department of Politics and International Relations, University of Oxford, Bitar lamented “the dissolution and disappearance of an internationally recognized political entity to which Palestinians belong.” He also claimed that one of the obstacles facing Palestinians was “Israeli military occupation and expansionism, and entrenched discrimination.” Read More
Breitbart: The British Broadcasting Company (BBC) has come under fire for a programme aimed at prepubescent children which claimed that there are “over 100” gender identities.
The film, entitled Identity – Understanding Sexual and Gender Identities, is currently being presented on the publicly-funded broadcaster’s ‘Teach’ website and is aimed at children between the ages of nine and 12 years old.
The programme says that becoming transgender is a means by which children can become “happy” and that supposedly different gender identities include “gender-queer”, “pansexual”, and “bi-gender”, the Daily Mail reported.
At one point during the film, a pupil is seen asking a Relationships and Sex Education teacher: “How many gender identities are there?” Read More

Arutz Shev: The coronavirus vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech has apparently caused a number of side-effects not anticipated by the producers, a department manager at Sheba Medical Center in Tel HaShomer said Tuesday.
Professor Galia Rahav, chief of the Infectious Disease Unit and Laboratories at the Sheba Medical Center, spoke with Kan Reshet Bet Tuesday about the newly-discovered side-effects some people have reported experiencing after receiving the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
The new side-effects range from paraesthesia – a nerve condition causing a tingling sensation or ‘pins and needles’ – to facial nerve paralysis
When we noticed this and spoke with [the company], they started to get reports about this,” said Rahav.
“At the beginning, they said that it was just hysterical women, but it doesn’t seem that way, because we’re seeing this with men as well.”
Prof. Rahav emphasized that the side-effects are likely temporary, and that it is not yet certain that the vaccine caused the reactions. But, she added, since the vaccine is new “we need to examine it, to learn, and to observe.” Read More
